Her parents belonged to Italy but were in the US their work as her father was an architect. She had a lot of journeys in her childhood between the US and Italy. But young Melissa was busy with sports. She played soccer, apart from being a junior karate champion. But her career aim was to become a model. She moved to Sardinia to do her modelling at the initial stage.
In the beginning, Melissa worked with an agency called the Venus Goddess. They got her a spot on the popular Italian beauty contest, Miss Muretto, in 2003. She finished as the runner up and was got the title of Miss Extreme. However, she didn't quit her studies and completed high school in 2004.
In 2005, she signed a modelling contract with Ricardo Gay agency and replaced Adriana Lima in an advertisement for TIM. Later on, she also appeared in advertisements for brands like Sweet Years.
She started acting and played the role of a ballerina in her debut movie. Next, she acted as a showgirl in the series Striascia la notzia. In 2006, she was seen in the crime series Il guidice mastrangelo, and also on a number of other TV appearences including MTV's Total Request Live on Tour. She has also appeared in Spring/Summer 2007 Pin-Up Stars show in Milan.
She is also the girlfriend of soccer star Christian Veri.
